My name is Colleen Stratton.
I live in Waterloo,
IL with my husband and three
incredible children born in 2001, 2004, and 2007. I am a practicing chiropractic physician, certified
acupuncturist, natural childbirth-trained childbirth educator, and DONA
certified doula. I have received my
certification in chiropractic pediatrics from the Academy of Family
Practice, Council on Chiropractic
Pediatrics. In my chiropractic practice,
I specialize in the care of the expectant mother, newborns, and
children. While I enjoy my work as a
chiropractor and acupuncturist, I have found that I love birth and being able
to help couples attain the birth experience that they desire is a blessing.
I have been attending births in the greater St. Louis area since 2004, with brief
hiatuses after the births of my second and third children. I have had the privilege of assisting more than
60 women and their husbands with the births of their children.
I have attended both hospital and home births. While each setting has its own benefits and
challenges, the one thing that I believe is consistent is that birth is a
normal, natural process. It is not a
disease to be managed, but a journey to empower a mother and father in
preparation of another life joining their family. I truly feel honored and blessed to be allowed
to share in a couple’s most intimate experience… the birth of
their child.
